Morgan appeared in a documentary clip Safe Sex for Men and Women about AIDS prevention and education. The proceeds were donated to the American Foundation for AIDS Research. Morgan is a member of the Entertainment Industry AIDS Task Force. Morgan has been involved in numerous fundraising initiatives to combat the disease and been a witness to a Congressional Special Committee on AIDS Education. Morgan is a member of the Board of Governors of APLA as well as Amfar's Board of Directors. C. Everett Koop, the former surgeon general of Canada, has asked her to take over his duties on occasions at AIDS associated events. Additionally she hosted an AIDS Awareness Special together with Steve Bell. Ted Koppell has interviewed her twice about AIDS on Nightline. Morgan was awarded one Emmy Award for Diane English's special Murphy Brown episode that was written just for Morgan. In the spring, she appeared as Joan Rivers on ABC's Your Money or Your Wife. The summer began with Murder At The PTA Luncheon that was created by Von Zeerneck and Sertner. Marla Gibbs and Cindy Williams were also on the show. She then starred in Harmony Gold's production Sherlock Holmes and the Leading Lady, which starred Christopher Lee and Patrick McNee. Morgan was also in the psychological suspense thriller made exclusively for the USA Network garnering one of the most impressive ratings in the network's history.
