Chelsea Joy Handler was born on February 25, 1975, at Livingston, New Jersey. She was the eldest of six children within the family. Handler was the daughter of a car salesman and a housewife. Her mother was the daughter of a German immigrant who came to America in the year 1958. United States in 1958. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1989, and died after battling cancer for 10 years. Handler was raised in a Reform Judaism family. Her father was Jewish. Handler lived in a great community with a wonderful upbringing. As a teenager she relocated from the city of her birth to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career. Handler was a professional actress in order to help her. Handler's storytelling ability was discovered at 21. Handler then decided to dedicate her entire career to stand up comedy. Handler's career began as part of the all-female Oxygen TV show in the reality show with a hidden camera and practical humor show Girls Behaving Unsteadily. This reality show ran from 2002-2005. Handler was a part of several shows, including Weekends at D.L. The Bernie Mac Show The Practice as well as My Wife and Kids. Handler began her career as a journalist on The Tonight Show. Handler achieved her first big break in 2006 hosting her own E! show. The show was called Chelsea Handler. The show lasted over two years. The following year, Handler performed on the Comedy Central's Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour in the United States. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend, HBO and Comedy Central have all broadcast her stand-up show. She was named as host of the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in the year 2010. This made her the second woman in the history of television, after Roseanne Barr, to host the VMAs.
